The Marcy Griffin Spirit Award was established in 2013 when longtime FWWGA members and friends learned that their beloved Marcy could no longer play golf due to a debilitating cancer diagnosis. Marcy had competed in an astounding 61 City Tournaments and had participated in Interclub since its inception. She recorded 17 holes-in-one over the course of her career and her obituary fittingly defines her as “Mrs. Fort Wayne Golf Griffin.” She was a slight of a gal.
Marcy never won the City Tournament but she played the Game of Love and Friendship until she could play it no more. In 2014, at the age of 90, Marcy left us her legacy of grace, courage, and perseverance to which we should all aspire.
